FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAINSBURY'S CHOOSES AGA FOODSERVICE AS
MAJOR FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER
Aga Foodservice's drive into facilities management has been given impetus by
winning a three-year contract with Sainsbury's to maintain food preparation
equipment in its 486 stores nationwide. Aga Foodservice will be maintaining an
increasing proportion of equipment supplied by the Group as it has, in parallel,
won a three-year supply agreement for bakery and refrigeration equipment. These
products are presently supplied by Group companies, Williams, Mono and Millers.
The Group is also looking to expand its cooking equipment supplies from Falcon.
The contracts are worth in excess of #10 million per annum.
The facilities management contract is with Millers Vanguard - the Bury based
bakery company which became part of Aga Foodservice in December 2001. Millers
is a long established facilities management company working notably for
Somerfield. The contract materially increases the scale of Millers' facilities
management work and Millers will also access the Group's extensive repair and
maintenance resources at Serviceline and Troldahl. Millers is to expand its
dedicated facilities management control centre. Equipment production will
transfer to Mono, the Group's Swansea based bakery equipment manufacturer.
Stephen Rennie, Chief Operating Officer commented, "We are excited that
Sainsbury's has chosen us as a key supplier after a rigorous appraisal process.
Bringing Group resources to bear to enable individual companies to grow their
relationships with major customers like Sainsbury's epitomises our strategy for
foodservice. We are delighted that our comprehensive capability is proving so
attractive to major customers."
