Circuit City Stores, Inc. Names Ernest V. Speranza Senior Vice
President and Chief Marketing Officer RICHMOND, Va., March 31

announced that Ernest V. Speranza is joining the company as senior
vice president and chief marketing officer effective April 19,
2004. Speranza, 58, served for nearly 20 years at Toys "R" Us,
Inc., as senior vice president marketing and advertising,
international and senior vice president marketing and advertising,
U.S. At Toys "R" Us, Speranza developed long-range strategic
branding programs, including the "I don't want to grow up, I'm a
Toys 'R' Us kid" campaign, planned and implemented the retailer's
first e-commerce Internet program, developed database marketing
programs, gift registries, coupon programs and catalogs. Prior to
working at Toys "R" Us, he served as vice president of marketing
and advertising for County Seat Stores and in various advertising
positions for Kinney Shoes andFoot Locker. "Ernie has more than 35
years of retail advertising experience," said W. Alan McCollough,
chairman, president and chief executive officer for Circuit City
Stores, Inc. "His career covers a wide range of marketing programs
including unified global campaigns. We are excited to have someone
with his proven talents lead Circuit City's advertising and
