General Patent Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Bausch
& Lomb Surgical for Scieran Technologies SUFFERN, N.Y., Oct. 18
/PRNewswire/ -- General Patent Corporation of Suffern, NY, has
announced today that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit, on
behalf of Scieran Technologies, Inc. of San Juan Capistrano, CA
(Scieran), against Bausch & Lomb Surgical, Inc. of San Dimas,
CA (Bausch & Lomb). General Patent Corporation International
(GPCI) of Suffern, New York, a leading contingency patent
enforcement firm, is the exclusive licensing agent for Scieran and
is representing the company in the licensing and enforcement of its

Delaware. Scieran is represented by the prominent IP litigation
boutique Levin and O'Connor. GPCI retained Levin & O'Connor on
behalf of Scieran after licensing negotiations with Bausch &
Lomb reached a dead end. The complaint alleges that Bausch &
Lomb Surgical Inc, a unit of Bausch & Lomb, Inc. [NYSE: BOL],
manufactured, used, sold and/or offered for sale a disposable
high-speed vitrectomy cutter, without the rights or license from
Scieran, in infringement of Scieran's US Patent Nos. 6,629,986 and
6,258,111. Scieran seeks unspecified compensatory damages and a
permanent injunction against Bausch & Lomb. "Scieran
Technologies has made a substantial investment in the development
of this technology," said Paul Lerner, GPCI's Sr. Vice President
and General Counsel. "Scieran shareholders deserve to be fairly
compensated." "We are pleased to represent Scieran Technologies and
work closely with GPCI in this matter," said Edward F. O'Connor of
Levin and O'Connor, the lead counsel in this case. "We intend to
vigorously enforce these patents against the defendant, Bausch
& Lomb, and will see to it that the inventors have their day in
court." About Scieran Technologies Scieran Technologies, Inc. a
