The Thai baht that weakened against the U.S. dollar in early
Asian deals on Tuesday recovered slightly shortly thereafter, as
the nation's central bank reportedly stepped in to prevent sharp
losses.
The baht was trading around yesterday's close of 32.49 against
the greenback, following an 8-day low of 32.66 hit earlier.
Thailand's army imposed martial law today to restore stability,
following months of anti-government protests. The currency and
stocks were battered upon the political turmoil.
