The largest lithium refinery in the country, chooses Southside Industrial Park

On January 11, 2024, KTUL published the following article that includes an interview with Roshan Pujari, Co-Founder and CEO of Stardust Power:

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (KTUL) — Battery-grade lithium is very prevalent in China, but not so prevalent in the United States.

It’s a huge national security concern since the demand has gone up year after year.

Stardust power, who announced they would be coming to town, late last year, has now officially announced where their 66-acre plant will be located.

This is where Stardust Power will be located.

The EV company will be awarded an incentive package up to $257 million dollars after successfully finding a location.

Negotiations have been in the works for over a year and today is the day they announce where the largest lithium refinery in the country will be built.

“We’re happy to announce that we’ve selected Southside Industrial park at Port Muskogee for the development of our facilities,” said Chief executive officer of Stardust Power, Roshan Pujari.

Back in November, Stardust Power, a lithium refinery company announced they would be coming to Oklahoma.

Today, the CEO, Roshan Pujari, made the announcement official that they would be coming to Port Muskogee.

A place he says has all the resources for stardust power to thrive.

“The folks at the port have really set up a real class facility. Good connectivity to rail as well as highway. But also, the advantage of being on the largest inland waterway system in the United States, said Pujari. And for our hub and spoke model, that logistics efficiency is a driving factor.”

According to Pujari, the refinery will produce about 50,000 tons of EV batteries per year.

The port of Muskogee says Stardust Power will have transformational change for the area for years to come.

“In Muskogee, we like to say, you know you can make it here and you can take it anywhere in the world. And that’s because of our four r’s. We have road, we have rail, we have runway, but we also have our river system. It’s incredibly impactful. Couldn’t be more grateful thankful for stardust power to take a look at us. To understand what our strategic advantages here in Muskogee. To use the inland waterway, to get anywhere in the world, we have something special here,” said Deputy Port of Muskogee director, Jeff Underwood.

Governor Kevin Stitt also welcomes the company to Oklahoma.

He posted this on social media earlier today.

“Stardust Power’s new lithium refinery will create hundreds of new jobs and cement Oklahoma’s pace as the best state for critical mineral manufacturing. I’m proud to welcome them to Oklahoma, and I applaud their commitment to American energy dominance,” said Oklahoma Governor, Kevin Stitt.

Stardust Power believes there is such a demand for EV batteries, the industry may not be able to keep up.

That’s why this Oklahoma plant is so important.

Groundbreaking is expected to take place in the next few months.

Arthur Jackson, the senior vice president of economic development for the Tulsa Regional Chamber, released a statement:

“Stardust Power is a huge win for this region and the state of Oklahoma. The high-paying jobs that will ultimately result from this refinery are a testament that Oklahoma is a national player in the ever-growing sustainable power sector. The continued commitment and support of the Tulsa’s Future economic development regional partnership help bring projects such as this to our region.
