Partnership With Skype Delivers Secure, Global Broadband Access and
Free Phone Calls Over the Internet for Mobile Corporate Users
MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GoRemote
(NASDAQ:GRIC) today announced a strategic partnership with Skype,
the Global Internet Communications Company, that will further the
capabilities of remote working for today's professional. Now, IT
managers and CIOs can provide their mobile workers and teleworkers
with free Skype phone calls to anyone with an Internet connection
using GoRemote's secure mobile broadband solutions: GoRemote Mobile
Office and GoRemote Teleworker. This agreement stands to accelerate
the adoption of free calls over the Internet for mobile workers by
combining the capabilities of Skype with the GoRemote Global
Network, the world's largest virtual business network. Skype offers
superior voice quality, data encryption between users, and allows
mobile workers to take their office phone number, voicemail and
contact list wherever they travel -- hotel rooms, airports, and
partner or customer sites. Skype to Skype calls are free and
SkypeOut offers cost-saving for calls to employees, customers and
partners using a traditional phoneline or mobile. The partnership
enables GoRemote to offer the industry's most comprehensive
combination of integrated mobile computing, Internet-based phone
calls and security to help workers maintain productivity anywhere
in the world. "GoRemote's secure mobile broadband access with Skype
calling is a winning combination for mobile workers," said James
Bilefield, vice president of business development, Skype. "Mobile
workers can save money by using Skype to make free phone calls in
the knowledge that the calls are end-to-end encrypted for superior
privacy." "Use of the Internet is clearly no longer only about
access to data; it has become a global, converged communications
network. Skype is driving this convergence by popularizing free
Internet phone calls and creating a marketplace for Internet voice
services," said Tom Thimot, president and CEO of GoRemote. "By
combining GoRemote's global virtual business network solutions with
Skype voice services, we are enabling business professionals to be
more productive without compromising the security of their
networks." GoRemote will bundle Skype's telephony software with the
GoRemote Mobile Office client software and will offer Skype as a
value-added service for GoRemote Mobile Office and Teleworker
customers. This innovative bundle offers customers additional
security between communicating hosts and simplified access to the
Skype software. Deploying and updating is further simplified
through the use of the GoRemote Express deployment utility. The
Mobile Office client provides access to the world's largest virtual
business network including more than 30,000 wireless broadband
access points in 70 countries including approximately 500 airports,
6,100 hotels and 140 convention centers. About Skype Technologies
