Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS) (NASDAQ: ISSX), the worldwide
leader in preemptive, enterprise security, today unveiled its
Virtual Security Operations Center (Virtual-SOC) for Managed
Security Services. Virtual-SOC is an online platform for monitoring
and controlling security operations across both ISS and third-party
security and networking devices. Moving forward, ISS will deliver
all of its Managed Security Services through the Virtual-SOC,
resulting in tight integration between the services and added value
for customers. In response to growing business challenges and
regulatory requirements, ISS is also introducing two new services
to its Virtual-SOC platform, Security Event and Log Management. The
launch of Virtual-SOC and the Security Event and Log Management
Services represents a fundamental step in ISS' "Protection
On-Demand" strategy. "With the addition of the Virtual-SOC and
Security Event and Log Management Services, ISS continues to
deliver services that provide an immediate value to customers,"
said Loren Rudd, Industry Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. "Through
on-demand capabilities, ISS is making security management more
simple and seamless while addressing some of the major pain points
that organizations experience with traditional security event
management solutions. These services represent a robust option for
staying on top of Internet threats and regulatory compliance."
Virtual- SOC Drastically Simplifies Security and Enables
'Protection On-Demand' Through Virtual-SOC, customers will no
longer have to choose between outsourcing security management or
managing security devices in-house. Instead, Virtual-SOC allows
companies to have a centralized view of both on-premise and
remotely managed network and security devices through a single
interface. This translates into reduced costs, more effective and
efficient network and security management and a truly comprehensive
view of security posture. Internet Security Systems' Virtual-SOC
will enable customers to take advantage of "Protection On-Demand"
services to implement security wherever, whenever and however they
need it. For instance, a company can monitor its own security
devices during business hours each day and transition monitoring
duties to ISS during the evening and weekends. "Protection
On-Demand" also allows customers to rapidly implement additional
protection in response to emerging threats. The ease with which
companies can obtain and manage such a wide variety of security
capabilities through the Virtual-SOC makes implementing high-end
security feasible for a much broader range of organizations. "The
Virtual-SOC marks the next advancement in ISS' mission to provide a
wide range of customers with a comprehensive, integrated security
solution that serves as a platform for on-demand services," said
Rick Miller, vice president of Managed Security Services at ISS.
"Once organizations are provisioned on the Virtual-SOC platform,
solutions can be easily enabled and customized in real-time to
adapt to evolving needs." Security Event and Log Management
Services Enhance Virtual-SOC, Provide Unrivaled Control of Security
Posture Through the new Security Event and Log Management Services,
ISS' Virtual-SOC is providing organizations with the most effective
means available to aggregate, correlate, analyze and archive
security events and other pertinent network security data through a
single, Web-based platform. Security Event Management Service
Provides a Low-Cost Option for Powerful Security Tracking Existing
security information and event management products require high
upfront costs and lengthy time commitments to implement, and they
only allow for the collection and reduction of data. ISS' Security
Event Management Service can be implemented in just days for a low
cost and includes far greater functionality than typical offerings.
The ISS service goes further than security information and event
management products by generating and pushing alerts to customers
on the most crucial security issues impacting their networks. The
service also helps administrators manage the remediation of
security issues through the integration of ticketing and workflow
tools. As with other managed services from ISS, the Security Event
Management Service supports data from multiple vendors, including
those from ISS, Check Point, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, 3Com
and McAfee. Log Management Service Streamlines Regulatory
Compliance Procedures ISS' new Log Management Service aggregates
and archives data from any operating system or application that
outputs logs in a text-based format. As a result, Log Management
Service customers can query logs in near real-time across many
disparate operating systems and applications through a single
common interface. By providing a more holistic view of data across
the enterprise, the Log Management Service significantly reduces
time and costs typically associated with multi-vendor log analysis.
Customers receive automated rules-based analysis that maps to their
organizations' specific regulatory and business requirements to
monitor and report on compliance initiatives. Comprehensive ISS
Solution Keeps Customers Ahead of the Threat In addition to the
newly-added Security Event and Log Management Services, ISS offers
Managed Firewall, Managed Intrusion Detection and Prevention,
Managed Protection and Vulnerability Management Services that
integrate with the Virtual-SOC platform. ISS customers benefit from
the company's industry-leading Service Level Agreements, which
continue to set the standard for managed security service providers
around the world. ISS also offers complete protection for networks,
desktops and servers through its Proventia(R) product line. All ISS
products and services are backed by the intelligence of ISS'
X-Force(R) research and development team. The unique vulnerability
findings of X-Force are infused into all ISS products and services
and are shared with ISS customers through the security intelligence
component of the Virtual-SOC. ISS' Virtual-SOC with integrated
Security Event and Log Management Services will be available in
August 2006. For a demonstration and further details on ISS'
