International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Thursday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 1.3% to 151.95, the European index was up 1% to 152.23, the Asian index climbed 1.7% to 166.63, the Latin American index gained 1.4% to 185.30 and the emerging-markets index advanced 1.5% to 274.97.

ADRs of Materialise NV were among those that traded actively. The additive manufacturing software and 3D printing services provider gained 14% after they reported that revenue in the first quarter grew around 24%. The company is now expecting revenue for this year will come in closer to the high end of its initial guidance.

ADRs of Barclays PLC rose 7.4% after they reported a rise in first-quarter profit as the company benefited from being able to charge higher interest rates on loans and from Americans' growing use of credit cards.
