VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Visteon Corporation's (NYSE:VC) global commitment to develop safe and reliable climate control solutions for the automotive market was demonstrated with two test vehicles at the 2006 SAE Automotive Alternate Refrigerant Systems Symposium, June 27-29 in Scottsdale, Ariz. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) Automotive engineers and designers attending the show test drove two vehicles showcasing Visteon's alternative refrigerant technology -- one using natural refrigerant R744 and the other featuring the alternative low global warming potential refrigerant Fluid H. As a global automotive supplier, Visteon has in-depth climate systems expertise and broad development capabilities enabling the company to supply components and system solutions for either type of refrigerant. The Fluid H vehicle was developed by Visteon and its affiliate Halla Climate Control in close relationship with Hyundai. Visteon's R744 system demonstrated production-ready component hardware. An R744 system uses carbon dioxide refrigerant instead of the R134a refrigerant found in today's systems. R744 systems run at higher pressures but are more efficient under most conditions. The system can achieve up to a 20 percent reduction of incremental fuel consumption for air conditioner operation. Visteon's R744 climate systems are a potential solution to meet upcoming European and worldwide legislation on greenhouse gases. "Visteon is recognized as a leader in R744 development, and we continue to investigate further solutions for potential advance refrigerants," explained Joy Greenway, vice president of Visteon's climate group. "Our objective is to deliver the most efficient and reliable solution to meet current and future environmental legislation regarding automotive refrigerants." The SAE 2006 Automotive Alternate Refrigerant Systems Symposium brought together industry engineers to focus on mobile heating and cooling technologies. Attendees learned about effective refrigerant system control strategy, and updates on SAE standards covering system design, service equipment and technician service procedures for mobile air conditioning systems. Visteon Corporation is a leading global automotive supplier that designs, engineers and manufactures innovative climate, interior, electronic and lighting products for vehicle manufacturers, and also provides a range of products and services to aftermarket customers. With corporate offices in Van Buren Township, Mich. (U.S.); Shanghai, China; and Kerpen, Germany; the company has more than 170 facilities in 24 countries and employs approximately 50,000 people. http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO DATASOURCE: Visteon Corporation CONTACT: Melissa Andrade, +1-734-710-5546, , or Jim Fisher, +1-734-710-5557, , both of Visteon Corporation Web site: http://www.visteon.com/
