Horace Mann Lowers Auto Rates for West Virginia Educators

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Horace Mann
Educators Corp. (NYSE:HMN) announced it has lowered auto insurance
rates for West Virginia consumers an average of 4.4 percent
effective Nov. 1, 2005. "We are pleased to reduce rates for
educators in West Virginia," said Doug Reynolds, executive vice
president, property and casualty. "Governor Manchin called for
insurance companies to lower auto insurance rates, and Horace Mann
responded. We're also increasing our auto discount for customers
who have other lines of business with us, such as life or homeowner
insurance or an annuity." Additionally, Horace Mann is introducing
a 5 percent auto discount for educators in West Virginia. "Horace
