U.K. energy regulator Ofgem said Thursday that it is launching
an investigation into whether National Grid PLC breached rules
concerning the maintenance of the Harker electrical substation in
Cumbria, England.
The British watchdog said the probe concerns the company's duty
to develop and maintain an efficient, coordinated, and economical
system of electricity transmission and facilitate competition in
the supply and generation of electricity.
Ofgem said the opening of the investigation doesn't imply that
it has made any findings about possible non-compliance by National
Grid.
National Grid Electricity Transmission PLC owns the high-voltage
power network in England and Wales.
