Board Appointment & Notice of Results

Board Appointment

The Company is pleased to announce the appointment today (Wednesday, 3 September
2003) of Mr John R A Crabtree as a non-executive Director.

Mr Crabtree, aged 54, qualified as a Solicitor in 1973 and became a partner in
Wragge & Co in 1976. He was head of property for several years, followed by head
of corporate. He was appointed managing partner in 1991 and senior partner from
1993 to 30 April 2003. He is currently head of human resources group, the
division incorporating the firm's employment, pensions, private client and tax
teams.

Other current appointments include those of deputy chairman of Birmingham
Hippodrome Limited and chairman of the Birmingham Hippodrome Development Trust,
and Council Member of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Pursuant to paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules, the Company advises that Mr
Crabtree does not have and has not previously had any other directorship in any
other publicly quoted company at any time in the previous five years, and there
are no details to be disclosed pursuant to paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to 6.F.2 (g) of
the Listing Rules.

At the date of appointment, Mr Crabtree does not hold shares in Metalrax Group
PLC.

Notice of Results

The Company will be announcing its Interim Results for the half year to 30 June
2003 on Tuesday, 23 September 2003.
