BRAMPTON, ON, Aug. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - : More than $2 million was
raised and contributed by Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) in 2011
through efforts of its customers, colleagues, franchisees and their
employees in Atlantic Canada. A reflection of the Company's
commitment to making a positive difference in communities, these
funds supported hundreds of local families, charities and
not-for-profit organizations. In Atlantic Canada, Loblaw banner
stores include Atlantic Superstore(®), Dominion(® )(in
Newfoundland and Labrador), SaveEasy(® )and nofrills(®). Overall in
2011, Loblaw fundraised and donated $38.7 million nationally.
Loblaw giving focuses on four key areas: President's Choice(®)
Children's Charity, healthy active kids, feeding our neighbours and
greening our communities. In all four Atlantic provinces
President's Choice(® )Children's Charity programs has touched the
lives of over 57,000 thousand students through over 500 nutritional
programs, as well as supporting numerous programs for people with
disabilities throughout the region. In addition to
President's Choice(®) Children's Charity, Loblaw supports a
wide-range of programs and initiatives that reflect the unique
needs of communities in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland
and Prince Edward Island. In Nova Scotia, in addition to the close
to $590,000 from President's Choice(®) Children's Charity, $330,000
was raised to support numerous community-led efforts, such as local
food banks, FEED Nova Scotia, and the IWK Health Centre. In New
Brunswick, in addition to the $550,000 from President's Choice(®)
Children's Charity, Loblaw customers, colleagues and franchisees
contributed over $280,000 to a variety of organizations throughout
the province. In Newfoundland, in addition to the close to $160,000
from President's Choice(®) Children's Charity, an additional
$86,000 was contributed to a variety of organizations, such as the
Janeway Children's Hospital (Helicopter Ball Drop). In Prince
Edward Island, over $112,000 was contributed through President's
Choice(®) Children's Charity, and an additional $64,000 was raised
to support a variety of other programs that make a difference in
the lives of Islanders. "Loblaw is committed to making a difference

Mandate Focused on helping children live to their full potential,

corporate charities in Canada, has granted $10.6 million to more
than 1,800 children with disabilities and their families across
Canada. Grants typically supported the purchase of assistive
devices, vehicle adaptations, developmental and physical therapy,
camp tuition, home improvements, and respite care. President's
Choice(®) Children's Charity also granted $2.75 million to support
more than 4,000 nutrition programs across the country through its
relationships with Breakfast for Learning and Boys & Girls
