VANCOUVER, Nov. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Barsele Minerals
Corp. – (TSX-V: BME) ("Barsele"), is pleased to
report an operational update for the current exploration program on
the Barsele Au-VMS Project in Västerbottens Län, northern
Sweden. The exploration program is
being operated by joint venture partner Agnico Eagle Mines
Limited. – (TSX: AEM) ("Agnico Eagle").
Ownership in the project is 55% Agnico Eagle and 45%
Barsele.
Diamond drilling is initially being conducted around the
existing resource area and in the area between the Central and
Skiråsen Zones. A program of 12,300 metres drilling has been
designed for the 2015 season, as part of a $US 3.25 million exploration budget.
Barsele's President, Gary Cope
says, "We are very pleased with the exploration efforts and
professionalism of the technical team at Agnico Eagle and we look
forward to the results of this latest diamond drilling
program."
Three dimensional modelling of drilling data indicates the
potential for a southeasterly plunge to the higher grade gold
mineralization. This is consistent with structural geology mapping
in the newly exposed trench in the Central Zone and with the
overall trends in the Skellefte District. The southeast plunging
extension to the Central Zone will be tested to a depth of 400-500
metres below surface.
As well as diamond drilling, a program of trenching, structural
mapping, hyperspectral imaging of drill core and environmental
studies is also underway. Hyperspectral imaging of 1,350 metres of
previous diamond drill core has been completed for alteration
characterization.
Diamond drilling services are being provided by Arctic Drilling
Company Oy Ltd. of Finland and
Rockma Exploration Drilling AB of Sweden.
About the Barsele Gold Project
Barsele Project is located on the western end of the Proterozoic
"Skellefte Trend", a prolific volcanogenic massive sulphide
deposits belt, where it intersects with the "Gold Line" in northern
Sweden. Both polymetallic deposits
and intrusive hosted orogenic gold deposits are present in this
region and on the property. Current and past producers in the
region include Boliden, Kristineberg, Bjorkdal, Svartliden, and
Storliden.
In November of 2012, mineral resource estimates by Orex
Minerals Inc. – (TSX.V: REX) ("Orex") were
released for the Barsele Project in four zones, the Central, Avan
and Skiråsen Gold Zones and the Norra VMS Zone (Orex News Release
dated 21 November 2012).
