University of California scientists studying if they can turn edible plants into vaccines

CORONA, Calif., Dec. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- GP Solutions, Inc (Ticker: GWPD), says universities are now using GrowPods and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) to study the healing and immunization properties of foods.

The University of California in Riverside (UCR) purchased a GrowPod to do onsite plant studies in a clean setting. GrowPods are controlled environment automated farms that can be located virtually anywhere and can eliminate pesticides, harmful chemicals and pathogenic contamination.

Researchers at UCR are studying whether food can contain the same mRNA as vaccines. The idea is that eventually, people would be able to "eat" their vaccines.

"Ideally, a single plant would produce enough mRNA to vaccinate a single person," said Juan Pablo Giraldo, associate professor at UCR who is leading the research in collaboration with scientists from UCSD and Carnegie Mellon.

Key to the process are chloroplasts — small organs in plant cells. "They're tiny, solar-powered factories that produce sugar and other molecules," Giraldo said. Scientists place the mRNA genetic material into the chloroplasts.

"I'm very excited about this research," Giraldo said. "I think it could have a huge impact on peoples' lives."

Many universities are now using CEA to study phytochemicals and plant properties.

University of California, Davis reports: "Controlled Environment Agriculture can be an important part of a robust and nutritious food supply across the globe."

Cornell University has an entire CEA department. They write, "CEA operations can provide fresh produce as well as flowers or pharmaceutical plants of high quality and free of agriculture chemicals."

And, North Carolina State University is studying how CEA can provide more nutritionally dense food.

Not sure I think because it just started trading and there isn’t that many publicly trade stocks out there yet because people haven’t listed their pink stocks yet. But with everything that’s going on I’m sure it will go back up again.

why did the price spike so high?

I can't see this having a float of over 1 million shares.

I wish I knew what the OS and Float are. Trades like it is small, but can't find anything other than the 86 million from OTC Markets and latest Q. There was a 1:200 RS back in October 2018, but the latest Q is from June 2019 - so it SHOULD reflect a fairly accurate OS.

Not at all. All increments have been in the 100-300 range on the ask and no hidden shares. Bid keeps coming right up. 1000% on under 60k 5 day volume. $1000 with 1 share showed on the ask a few times this morning.

This thing is about to make one of those fluke pops to $200 or $400 or some insane amount.

I don't think they've done a reverse split. I did a previous private placement with these guys and the stock reached crazy valuation too. A billion+ market cap seems stupid but they do seem to have a nice system and organic may surpass marijuana in value to them.

Talked with company yesterday and they said the container system can produce just as much value from organic butter lettuce as from marijuana.

Obviously they are pursuing sales in both markets but interesting angle.

I doubt many investors would figure organic vegetables could be that lucrative. But how many grocery stores, restaurants and farmers need organic vegetables? A Lot. This system would allow them to have a self contained system nearby that produces fresh produce continually.

That said, I wish my shares were liquid and deposited in my brokerage acct. I would take the profits and run.

No, not at all. The OS showing cannot be correct. This thing has moved 1000% in 5 days on just 57k volume. There are literally no shares here. In fact, $1000 popped on the ask a few times today with 1 share showing.

Looks like it went to $38 or so last last year/Fall on days of only 20 and 35 volume.

It had to have and a large one. This thing is about ready to pop to %40 or $100 on a few hundred shares.

Nah, that OS showing is not correct. This thing can't even have 1 million shares OS/float. It hasn't even traded 70,000 shares/volume between the past 5 days. There are no shares here thus the reason that $1000 keeps popping up on the ask.

Be careful. Unless I am reading it incorrectly, the market cap is now over $1.5 billion, with sales of $40k.
