    Marakand Minerals Limited - Directorate Change, Director's Shareholding


Marakand Minerals Limited ("Marakand" or "the Company") wishes to announce that
following the increased holding in the Company by Oxus Gold plc ("Oxus")
announced on 6 March 2006 that Non-Executive Chairman, Mr. William Trew, has
resigned from the Marakand Board of Directors. Marakand wishes to thank Bill for
his guidance and support over the past 27 months and looks forward to his
continued interest through Oxus, Marakand's major shareholder.


The Company further wishes to advise shareholders that it was notified on 6
March 2006 that the Marakand directors have tendered their Marakand ordinary
shares to Oxus at a ratio of three Marakand shares for one Oxus share (details
are below). The Marakand Board is of the view that the increased ownership of
Marakand by Oxus is in the interest of all the Marakand shareholders.


William Trew - 989,643 ordinary shares representing 0.98% of shares.
Alasdair Stuart - 637,276 ordinary shares representing 0.63% of shares.
Bill Charter - 78,844 ordinary shares representing 0.08% of shares.
