Red Lion Hotels (NYSE:RLH) announced today the company signed a franchise agreement on a hotel located near the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, one of the top 20 busiest airports in the country serving more than 32 million passengers a year.

“The Detroit metro area is among the top 20 MSAs in the U.S., which we are targeting as we expand eastward,” said Brian Quinn, Chief Franchise Officer for RLHC.

The future Red Lion Inn & Suites Detroit Airport, 9095 Wickham Road, has 77 rooms and is located about three miles from Detroit Metropolitan Airport. It is expected to convert to Red Lion by the end of the year.

“We had many choices of brands, but have heard so much lately about Red Lion that we decided to choose them,” said Akram Namou, President of A &M Hospitality Services, Inc., a hotel ownership and operations company with multiple properties throughout Michigan. “We look forward to working with Red Lion.”

Detroit serves as corporate headquarters for General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler and Quicken Loans, as well as some of the fastest growing technology companies in the country.

Red Lion Hotels Corporation is a hospitality company primarily engaged in the franchising, ownership and operation of hotels. The company has more than 50 hotels system wide and also owns and operates an entertainment and event ticket distribution business.
