Four of Europe's top lead recyclers Ecobat, JCI Ltd. (JCD.JO), Recylex S.A. (RX.FR) and Campine N.V. (CAMB.BT) are being investigated by the European Commission for suspected cartel practices related to lead scrap purchasing, the Reuters news agency said Tuesday on its website, citing three unnamed industry sources.

Recylex and JCI confirmed EC officials had visited their premises on Sept. 26, but couldn't give further details on the preliminary investigation, the report said. Campine said it was cooperating with the investigation while Ecobat declined to comment when contacted, the report said. A press officer at the EC also declined to comment, Reuters reported.
