health care sector overall. In the global rankings, Humana placed

Humana ranked No. 25 in the 2015 Newsweek Green Rankings of U.S.
companies and No. 69 in 2014.
The Newsweek Green Rankings, which launched in 2009,
are one of the world’s most recognized assessments of corporate
environmental performance. They assess the 500 largest publicly
traded companies in the United States and the 500 largest
publicly-traded companies globally on their environmental
performance.
The rankings are developed based on eight specific indicators,
which include energy, greenhouse gas, water and waste productivity,
as well as the proportion of a company’s income derived from green
products. The 2016 survey was conducted in conjunction
with Corporate Knights and HIP (Human Impact + Profit)
Investor Inc.
The rankings were announced one day after Humana released its
2014-2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Report. The report, the
fourth that the company has released since 2009, details progress
the company has made on multiple aspects of corporate social
responsibility according to Humana’s three areas of focus: Healthy
People, Healthy Planet and Healthy Performance. The endeavors
detailed in the report represent Humana’s dedication to improving
