Vedanta Resources Unit Synchronizes 80MW at Tuticorin Power Plant

LONDON--Commodities company Vedanta Resources PLC (VED.LN)
Friday said its unit Sterlite Industries (India) Limited
(500900.BY) has successfully synchronized the first 80 megawatt
(MW) unit of its 160 MW thermal power plant at Tuticorin on Sept.
30.
MAIN FACTS:
-Power from the first unit will be predominantly used for
captive consumption at its Copper Smelter operations at
Tuticorin.
-Shares at 0743 GMT up 33 pence, or 3.10%, at 1098 pence.
