CEO Tavares has resigned.
Here is a plan:
1) Technical reviews to select best-in-class technologies from all of their brands (reliability as key metric)
2) Across the board redesign effort to reuse those technologies in all product lines.
3) Consolidate power train designs within horsepower families.
4) Centralize production of new powertrains around highest yield production facility.
5) Modify chassis designs to accept new designs.
6) Drop non-profitable brands.
7) Negotiate shipping partnerships to move powertrains to remaining production facilities.
8) Prototype, test, break, redesign, repeat.
I think that makeover would cost a small fortune, but all required to cut long-term costs, improve profits, and re-engage customers.
