sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
A contract worker died Monday at Motiva's Port Arthur, Texas,
refinery, a Shell spokeswoman said. The man was part of the Becon
Construction Co. team working on the plant's crude processing
expansion project; the cause of his death is under investigation.
The Motiva refinery is a 50% joint venture between units of Royal
Dutch Shell (RDSB, RDSA.LN) and Saudi Aramco.
Valero Energy Corp.'s (VLO) McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas, has
yet to begin work on a key gasoline-making unit, which continues to
operate at planned rates, a company spokesman said Monday. Over the
weekend, the company reported that repairs would be performed on
the casing for an expander at the fluid catalytic cracker, a
gasoline-production unit, starting Sunday evening, according to a
filing with state environmental regulators. The maintenance
activity was expected to end this coming Saturday.
Several "planned flaring event" filings this week to California
state environmental regulators are related to turnaround
maintenance since March at Exxon Mobil's (XOM) oil refinery in
Torrance, Calif., company spokeswoman Aarti Ramachandran said.
Tesoro Corp.'s (TSO) oil refinery in Mandan, N.D., was shutting
down Friday so that 30 days of turnaround maintenance can get under
way on Monday, said Benjamin Gress, an environmental scientist with
the Air Quality Division of North Dakota's Department of Health.
The company said the scheduled work is on schedule and will last
through late May.
