Universal Health Services, Inc., through its subsidiaries, owns and operates acute care hospitals, behavioral health centers, surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and radiation oncology centers. As of February 28, 2011, the Company owned and/or operated 25 acute care hospitals and 206 behavioral health centers located in 37 states, Washington, Distrct of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the United States, Virgin Islands. The Company operates in three segments: acute care hospital services, behavioral health care services and others. The other segment includes centralized services, including information services, purchasing, reimbursement, accounting, taxation, legal, advertising, design and construction and patient accounting. Services provided by its hospitals include general and specialty surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics, coronary care and pediatric services. In November, 2010, the Company completed the acquisition of Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI).
