                       Monterrico Metals plc (the "Company")





The Company has been notified today by Amvescap plc that, as the result of a
recent conversion of unit trusts to investment companies with variable capital,
Amvescap plc has ceased to be interested in 968,332 ordinary shares of 10 pence
each in the Company and no longer has a notifiable interest (within the meaning
of Section 199(2) of the Companies Act 1985) in ordinary shares of the Company.



The Company has also been notified today that, as a result of the conversion
referred to above, that Invesco Perpetual UK Smaller Companies Fund no longer
have notifiable interests in ordinary shares of the Company



In addition the company has been notified that INVESCO English and International
Trust plc holds 1,492,776 ordinary shares representing 7.40% of the company's
issued share capital. The shares are registered in the name of Chase Nominees
Limited.



Amvescap does not have a beneficial interest in any of these shares.
