Aurubis AG (NDA.XE), Europe's largest copper producer, said Wednesday that German steelmaker Salzgitter AG (SZG.XE) has increased its stake in the Hamburg-based company to around 25.3% as of Dec. 15.

Salzgitter previously owned around 23% of Aurubis and has said it doesn't plan to increase its stake to over 29.9%, short of the 30% threshold that requires a takeover offer under German financial markets laws.
