Chief executives of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are due to participate in a federal court hearing this week over the Federal Trade Commission's effort to prevent the companies from merging.

Executives from Nvidia, Nintendo and Bethesda Softworks are also due to testify in the five-day hearing, as well as several expert witnesses, according to a Tuesday court filing.

The FTC last week sought an injunction in San Francisco federal court, citing recent media reports that Microsoft was considering closing its $75 billion deal for Activision.

The agency sued Microsoft in December to block the deal, saying it is illegal and would harm competition in the videogame industry.
