SOLID STATE SUPPLIES PLC

Solid State Supplies PLC has announced that, with effect from the end of April
1999, the Company will no longer distribute components supplied by Microchip
Technology Inc. Sales of these products, which began in June 1997, accounted
for 18 per cent. of total turnover in the last financial year but had not
begun to contribute to profits due to the costs incurred in developing the
required infrastructure and stock levels. In the short term, there will
therefore be no adverse impact on profitability and some improvement in cash
resources.

While the Directors are disappointed at the termination of the Microchip
franchise, the Company has the resources to look for further distribution and
acquisition opportunities.
