US capacity utilisation rose in March

In March, capacity utilisation in the US climbed to 76.10%, at par with market expectations. Capacity utilisation had recorded a revised level of 75.70% in the previous month.

US building permits climbed in March

Building permits registered a rise of 3.60%, on MoM basis, to an annual rate of 1260.00 K in the US, in March, compared to a revised level of 1216.00 K in the previous month. Market anticipation was for building permits to rise to 1250.00 K.

US industrial production rose as expected in March

Industrial production recorded a rise of 0.50% on a monthly basis in March, in the US, at par with market expectations. In the prior month, industrial production had risen by a revised 0.10%.

US manufacturing production unexpectedly slid in March

Manufacturing production in the US recorded an unexpected drop of 0.40% in March on a monthly basis, compared to a rise of 0.50% in the prior month. Markets were expecting manufacturing production to record a flat reading.

US housing starts eased in March

Housing starts recorded a drop of 6.80%, on MoM basis, to an annual rate of 1215.00 K in March, in the US, compared to market expectations of 1250.00 K. Housing starts had registered a revised level of 1303.00 K in the previous month.

US Redbook index climbed in the last week

The Redbook index in the US registered a rise of 2.30% on a YoY basis, in the week ended 14 April 2017. In the prior week, the Redbook index had recorded a rise of 1.60%.

US Redbook index advanced in the last week

In the week ended 14 April 2017, on a MoM basis, the seasonally adjusted Redbook index in the US climbed 1.20%. In the previous week, the Redbook index had risen 0.90%.

Canadian existing home sales advanced in March

The existing home sales in Canada rose 1.10% on a MoM basis, in March. Existing home sales had recorded a rise of 5.20% in the prior month.

Foreign investors remained net buyers of Canadian securities in the previous month

Foreign investors remained net buyers of C$38.83 billion worth of Canadian securities in February, from being net buyers of a revised C$6.35 billion worth of Canadian securities in the previous month.

Canadian investors remained net buyers of foreign securities in the previous month

Canadian investors were net buyers of C$6.30 billion worth of foreign securities in February, from being net buyers of C$8.60 billion worth of foreign securities in the previous month.
