US housing market index surprisingly slid in June
In the US, the housing market index dropped unexpectedly to a level of 64.00 in June, lower than market expectations of a rise to a level of 67.00. The index had registered a reading of 66.00 in the prior month.
US NY Empire State manufacturing index dropped in June
In the US, the NY Empire State manufacturing index dropped to a level of -8.60 in June, compared to a reading of 17.80 in the prior month. Market expectation was for the index to drop to a level of 11.00.
RBA hints at further rate cuts
Minutes of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s (RBA) June monetary policy meeting indicated that the central bank is likely to lower its interest rates in the near future. Further, RBA reiterated that the labour market developments would be considered as a major factor in the further easing of the monetary policy.
