UK consumer confidence index remained unchanged in July
In the UK, the consumer confidence index recorded an unchanged reading at -27.00 in July. Markers were expecting to rise to a level of – 26.00.
Euro-zone consumer confidence index unexpectedly dropped in July
In the Euro-zone, the preliminary consumer confidence index registered an unexpected drop to a level of -15.00 in July, compared to a reading of -14.70 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the consumer confidence index to record a rise to a level of -12.00.
German consumer confidence index rose more than expected in August
In Germany, the consumer confidence index rose to a level of -0.30 in August, compared to a revised level of -9.40 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the consumer confidence index to climb to a reading of -5.00.
US number of initial jobless claims unexpectedly advanced in the week ended 17 July 2020
In the US, the seasonally adjusted number of initial jobless claims recorded an unexpected rise to 1416.00 K in the week ended 17 July 2020, compared to a revised reading of 1307.00 K in the prior week. Markets were anticipating number of initial jobless claims to ease to a level of 1300.00 K.
US leading indicator rose in June
In the US, the leading indicator climbed 2.00% on a MoM basis in June, compared to a revised rise of 3.20% in the prior month.
