US housing starts rose in July
In the US, housing starts surged 22.60% on a MoM basis in July, compared to a revised rise of 17.50% in the previous month.
US building permits rose in July
In the US, building permits recorded a jump of 18.80% on a MoM basis in July, compared to a revised increase of 3.50% in the previous month.
Japanese machinery orders unexpectedly dropped in June
In Japan, machinery orders dropped 7.60% on a MoM basis in June, compared to a rise of 1.70% in the prior month. Markets were expecting machinery orders to record an advance of 2.00%.
Japan recorded a merchandise (total) trade surplus in July
Japan posted a merchandise (total) trade surplus of ¥11.60 billion in July, compared to a merchandise (total) trade deficit of ¥269.30 billion in the prior month. Market anticipations were for the nation to record a trade deficit of ¥77.60 billion.
Australian Westpac leading index rose in July
In Australia, the Westpac leading index registered a rise of 0.05% on a MoM basis in July, compared to a revised rise of 0.50% in the prior month.
