US number of initial jobless claims climbed in the week ended 08 January 2021
In the US, the seasonally adjusted number of initial jobless claims climbed to 965.00 K in week ended 08 January 2021, compared to a revised level of 784.00 K in the previous week. Markets were expecting initial jobless claims to rise to a level of 795.00 K.
German GDP fell less than expected in 2020
In Germany, non-seasonally adjusted GDP dropped 5.00% in 2020, compared to a rise of 0.60% in the prior year. Market anticipations were for the GDP to fall 5.10%.
Australian home loan approvals rose in November
In Australia, the seasonally adjusted home loan approvals jumped 5.60% on a MoM basis in November, compared to an advance of 0.80% in the previous month.
China house price index rose in December
In China, the house price index recorded a rise of 3.8% in December, compared to a rise of 4.0% in the previous month.
