UK consumer confidence index improved in May

In the UK, the consumer confidence index advanced to a level of -9.00 in May, compared to a reading of -15.00 in the previous month. Markets expectations were of the index to record a level of -12.00.

Euro-zone construction output rose in March

In the Euro-zone, the seasonally adjusted construction output recorded a rise of 2.70% on a MoM basis in March, compared to a revised drop of 2.00% in the prior month.

Euro-zone current account surplus narrowed in March

In the Euro-zone, the seasonally adjusted current account surplus narrowed to €17.80 billion in March, compared to a surplus of €25.88 billion in the previous month.

German PPI advanced in April

In Germany, the PPI rose 5.20% on a YoY basis in April, compared to a rise of 3.70% in the previous month. Market were expecting the index to rise 5.10%.

US number of initial jobless claims fell more than expected in the week ended 14 May 2021

In the US, the seasonally adjusted number of initial jobless claims dropped to a level of 444.00 K in the week ended 14 May 2021, compared to a revised reading of 478.00 K in the prior week.
