In the UK, public sector net borrowing deficit widened to £16.60 billion in November, compared to a deficit of £11.60 billion in the previous month.
Euro-zone consumer confidence index fell more than anticipated in December
In the Euro-zone, the preliminary consumer confidence index registered a drop to -8.30 in December, compared to a reading of -6.80 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the index to record a fall to a level of -8.00.
German consumer confidence index dropped in January
In Germany, the consumer confidence index registered a drop to -6.80 in January, compared to a revised reading of -1.80 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the index to record a fall to -2.70.
US current account deficit widened more than expected in 3Q 2021
In the US, current account deficit widened to $214.80 billion in 3Q 2021, compared to a deficit of $198.30 billion in the previous quarter. Market expectations were for the nation to register a deficit of $205.00 billion.
Australian Westpac leading index rose in November
In Australia, the Westpac leading index registered a rise of 0.12% on a MoM basis in November, compared to a revised advance of 0.27% in the previous month.
