UK GDP rose less than expected in 3Q 2021

In the UK, the final GDP climbed 1.10% on a QoQ basis in 3Q 2021, compared to a rise of 5.50% in the prior quarter. Markets were anticipating the GDP to advance 1.30%.

UK current account deficit expanded more than expected in 3Q 2021

In the UK, current account deficit expanded to £24.40 billion in 3Q 2021, compared to a deficit of £8.60 billion in the previous quarter. Markets were expecting deficit to widen to £15.60 billion.

US annualised GDP advanced more than expected in 3Q 2021

In the US, the final annualised GDP advanced 2.30% on a QoQ basis in 3Q 2021, compared to an advance of 6.70% in the prior quarter.Markets were expecting GDP to record a rise of 2.10%.

US consumer confidence index rose in December

In the US, the consumer confidence index climbed to 115.80 in December, compared to a level of 109.50 in the prior month.

US number of mortgage applications dropped in the week ended 17 December 2021

In the US, the number of mortgage applications slid 0.60% on a weekly basis in the week ended 17 December 2021, compared to a drop of 4.00% in the previous week.
