UK house prices rose more than expected in December
In the UK, the seasonally adjusted house prices climbed 1.00% on a MoM basis in December, compared to a rise of 0.90% in the previous month. Markets were expecting house prices to record an advance of 0.50%.
US initial jobless claims unexpectedly dropped in the week ended 24 December 2021
In the US, initial jobless claims unexpectedly fell to a level of 198.00 K in the week ended 24 December 2021, compared to a revised reading of 206.00 K in the previous week. Markets were expecting initial jobless claims to record a rise to 208.00 K.
US Chicago Fed Purchasing Managers’ Index advanced more than expected in December
In the US, the Chicago Fed Purchasing Managers’ Index recorded a rise to 63.10 in December, compared to a reading of 61.80 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the index to advance to 62.00.
Chinese NBS manufacturing PMI unexpectedly rose in December
In China, the NBS manufacturing PMI unexpectedly climbed to a level of 50.30 in December, compared to a level of 50.10 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the manufacturing PMI to fall to 50.00.
Chinese NBS non-manufacturing PMI climbed less than anticipated in December
In China, the NBS non-manufacturing PMI registered a rise to 52.70 in December, compared to a reading of 52.30 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the non-manufacturing PMI to record a rise to 53.10.
