UK manufacturing PMI unexpectedly fell in January
In the UK, the preliminary manufacturing PMI unexpectedly eased to a level of 56.90 in January, compared to a reading of 57.90 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the manufacturing PMI to remain unchanged at 57.90.
UK services PMI unexpectedly dropped in January
In the UK, the flash services PMI registered an unexpected drop to 53.30 in January, compared to a level of 53.60 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the services PMI to record a rise to a level of 54.80.
Euro-zone manufacturing PMI unexpectedly climbed in January
In the Euro-zone, the preliminary manufacturing PMI recorded an unexpected rise to 59.00 in January, compared to a reading of 58.00 in the prior month. Market anticipations were for the manufacturing PMI to fall to a level of 57.50.
German manufacturing PMI unexpectedly climbed in January
In Germany, the preliminary manufacturing PMI registered an unexpected rise to a level of 60.50 in in January, compared to a reading of 57.40 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the manufacturing PMI to drop to a level of 57.00.
US Markit manufacturing PMI dropped more than expected in January
In the US, the preliminary Markit manufacturing PMI declined to 55.00 in January, compared to a level of 57.70 in the prior month. Market anticipations were for the Markit manufacturing PMI to ease to a level of 56.70.
