In Germany, the IFO business expectations index registered a rise to 95.20 in January, compared to a revised reading of 92.70 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the index to record a rise to a level of 93.00.

In Germany, the IFO business climate index unexpectedly rose to 95.70 in in January, compared to a revised reading of 94.80 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the index to record a drop to 94.70.
US CB consumer confidence index dropped less than expected in January
In the US, the CB consumer confidence index eased to 113.80 in January, compared to a revised reading of 115.20 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the index to drop to a level of 111.80.
