UK house price balance rose in January
In the UK, the RICS house price balance registered a rise to 74.00% in January, compared to 69.00% in the previous month.
German current account surplus widened less than expected in December
In Germany, current account surplus widened to €23.90 billion in December, compared to a revised surplus of €18.50 billion in the prior month. Markets were expecting current account surplus to widen to €24.50 billion.
German trade balance surplus narrowed in December
In Germany, trade surplus narrowed to €6.80 billion in December, compared to a revised surplus €10.80 billion in the previous month. Markets were expecting trade surplus to narrow to €10.40 billion.
US MBA mortgage applications dropped in the week ended 4 February 2022
In the US, the number of mortgage applications declined 8.10% on a weekly basis in the week ended 4 February 2022, compared to a rise of 12.00% in the prior week.
Japan PPI rose more than expected in January
In Japan, the producer price index (PPI) advanced more than expected 8.60% on a YoY basis in January, compared to a revised rise of 8.70% in the previous month. Markets were expecting the PPI to record an advance of 8.20%.
