US building permits rose in January

In the US, building permits registered a rise of 0.70% on a MoM basis in January, compared to a revised rise of 9.80% in the previous month.

US housing starts dropped in January

In the US, housing starts dropped 4.10% on a MoM basis in January, compared to a revised rise of 0.30% in December.

US initial jobless claims unexpectedly jumped in the week ended 11 February 2022

In the US, number of initial jobless claims unexpectedly climbed to 248.00 K on a weekly basis in the week ended 11 February 2022, compared to a revised reading of 225.00 K in the previous week. Markets were expecting initial jobless claims to drop to a level of 219.00 K.

US Philadelphia fed manufacturing index fell more than expected in February

In the US, the Philadelphia fed manufacturing index dropped to a level of 16.00 in February, compared to a reading of 23.20 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the index to fall to 20.00.

Japan national CPI advanced less than anticipated in January

In Japan, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.50% on a YoY basis in January, compared to a rise of 0.80% in the previous month. Markets were expecting the CPI to record a rise of 0.60%.
