UK mortgage approvals unexpectedly declined in February
In the UK, mortgage approvals unexpectedly dropped to 71.00 K in February, compared to a revised level of 73.84 K in the prior month. Markets were expecting mortgage approvals to rise to 74.85 K.
UK BRC shop price index rose in February
In the UK, the BRC shop price index advanced 2.10% in February, compared to a rise of 1.80% in the prior month.
Germany consumer confidence index dropped more than expected in April
In Germany, the consumer confidence index declined to -15.50 in April, compared to a revised reading of -8.50 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the index to drop to -12.00.
US JOLTS jobs openings fell less than expected in February
In the US, the JOLTS jobs openings dropped to 11.27 million in February, compared to a revised 11.28 million jobs in the prior month. Markets were expecting job openings to decline to 11.00 million.
US housing price index advanced in January
In the US, the housing price index rose 1.60% in January, compared to a revised rise of 1.30%. Markets were expecting the index to record a rise of 1.40%.
