UK Halifax house prices unexpectedly dropped in September
In the UK, the Halifax house prices unexpectedly fell 0.10% on a MoM basis in September, compared to a revised rise of 0.30% in the prior month. Markets were expecting house prices to record a rise of 0.50%.
Germany industrial production declined more than anticipated in August
In Germany, industrial production fell 0.80% on a MoM basis in August, compared to a drop of 0.30% in the previous month. Markets were anticipating industrial production to record a fall of 0.50%.
German retail sales dropped more than expected in August
In Germany, retail sales fell 1.30% on a MoM basis in August, compared to a rise of 1.90% in the prior month. Market expectations were for retail sales to fall 1.00%.
US nonfarm payrolls rose more than anticipated in September
In the US, the nonfarm payrolls rose by 263.00 K in September, compared to a reading of 315.00 K in the previous month. Market anticipations were for the nonfarm payrolls to rise by 250.00K.
US unemployment rate dropped in September
In the US, the unemployment rate fell to 3.50% in September, compared to 3.70% in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the unemployment rate to remain unchanged.
