In the UK, current account deficit narrowed to £19.40 billion in 3Q 2022, compared to a deficit of £35.09 billion in the prior quarter. Markets were expecting deficit to narrow to £33.22 billion.
UK GDP fell more than anticipated in 3Q 2022
In the UK, GDP fell 0.30% on a QoQ basis in 3Q 2022, compared to a drop of 0.20% in the previous quarter. Markets were anticipating GDP to fall 0.20%.
US GDP rose more than expected in 3Q 2022
In the US, annualised GDP rose 3.20% in 3Q 2022, compared to a drop of 0.60% in the prior quarter. Market expectations were for GDP to rise 2.90%.
US initial jobless claims advanced less than anticipated in the week ended 16 December 2022
In the US, initial jobless claims advanced to 216.00 K in the week ended 16 December 2022, compared to a reading of 214.00 K in the previous week. Market anticipations were for initial jobless claims to climb to 222.00 K.
US Kanas Fed manufacturing activity index dropped less than expected in December
In the US, the Kanas Fed manufacturing activity fell to a level of -13.00 in December, compared to a reading of -10.00 in the prior month. Markets were expecting the index to fall to -16.00.
