MILAN--RCS Mediagroup SpA's (RCS.MI) biggest shareholder, Fiat
SpA (F.MI), has ended up with a 20.55% stake after taking part in
the Italian publisher's capital increase, which raised more than
400 million euros ($531.1 million) to help it with a major
restructuring, according to market regulator Consob.
According to the latest figures on Consob's website, other
shareholders in the publisher of Italian daily Corriere della Sera
include: bank Mediobanca (MB.MI), with a 15.45% stake; bank Intesa
Sanpaolo SpA (ISP.MI), with 6.54%; and tire maker Pirelli & C
SpA (PC.MI), with 5.45%.
Fiat, an auto maker that has described the investment as
strategic, increased its stake in RCS by buying subscription rights
from other investors.
Like many other major companies in Italy, RCS has a small group
of shareholders that have pooled their stakes to maintain control
of the publisher.
