LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Humana Military Healthcare Services, Inc. (HMHS), the TRICARE South Region managed care support contractor, recently contributed $100,000 to the Pentagon Memorial Fund. As a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor, HMHS understands the importance of the Pentagon to the military community. "I live to make sure this Memorial is built. I live to see them lift that first shovelful of earth from the ground," said Rosemary Dillard, who lost her husband Eddie in the Pentagon attack. On June 15 Mrs. Dillard's dream will become a reality as the first shovel is pushed into the earth during the groundbreaking ceremony. For all of those who have worked diligently for the Pentagon Memorial, June 15 marks a milestone in bringing to reality a place that will be one of remembrance, reflection and renewal. "Mrs. Dillard's thoughts echo the sentiments of the families left to survive the loss of their loved ones. This contribution will support the efforts of the dedicated individuals who have selflessly given of themselves in the defense of freedom. It is with great pleasure that Humana Military Healthcare Services provides this donation to the Pentagon Memorial Fund," said Dave Baker, president & CEO of HMHS. As an administrator of the DoD health program for active duty military members, retirees and their families, HMHS strives to make a difference in the support of our military partners and customers. HMHS works daily with our DoD officials and civilians located in the Pentagon and on military installations to ensure that the armed services beneficiaries receive the health care they deserve. With the events of September 11th, these military relationships have taken on a new meaning for HMHS not only to administer health care, but to provide continuous support and assistance to the Pentagon and the entire Armed Services community. The Pentagon Memorial Fund is a joint effort between various organizations united to construct a memorial commemorating the 184 lives lost in the Pentagon and on American Airlines Flight 77 on September 11, 2001.
