North America's Largest Railroad Continues Unprecedented Hiring
Push OMAHA, Neb., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Two things have
remained the same in 2006 for Union Pacific Railroad -- it
continues to handle record freight volumes and it continues to
recruit and hire new train service employees to ensure consumer
products, automobiles, coal and food continue to move across the
nation's rail system. "Outstanding train service employees are
essential to the success of Union Pacific's ability to safely
transport our customers' goods," said Barb Schaefer, senior vice
president -- Human Resources. "That's why we offer people in these
positions great wages, benefits and the opportunity for
advancement." The men and women handling train service duties
across the Union Pacific system are directly involved in train
operation and movement, switching operations, and train and
equipment inspections. The railroad provides all training required
for the positions. Train service positions offer excellent benefits
and pay of up to $40,000 in the first year and $75,000 in future
years. There also is the opportunity for advancement to other
positions within Union Pacific. Through the end of 2006, Union
Pacific will be hiring a total of 1,750 train service employees in
Arkansas, Arizona, California, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana,
Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and
