Oro Silver Resources Ltd. ("Oro Silver or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: OSR) has completed a 5,000m drill program on its El Compas project near Zacatecas City, Mexico. The Company completed twenty two holes which are expected to expand the El Compas near surface gold-silver resource. The last three holes of the program represent the Company's first step at testing for deeper silver targets below the El Compas mine and were successful in confirming mineralization at depth. The recent drill program will be followed by a larger exploration program of up to 15,000 metres of drilling.

Drill Program Recap

The first phase of the 5,000 metre drill program focused on areas of existing near surface, gold-silver resource. It was successful in expanding the known areas of mineralization with some exceptionally high grade intercepts, such as hole 09COM043 which returned 193.2 g/t gold and 1,263 g/t silver over 4.7 metres, a significant width for a vein-style deposit. Subsequent drilling confirmed mineralization at depth below the El Compas mine, such as hole 09COM054 which returned 4.7 g/t gold and 909.9 g/t silver over 1 metre at about 200m below surface (true width for both holes is estimated to be between 75 to 80% of core length).

Also, drilling extended the known mineralization on the El Orito vein located 300 metres east of the El Compas mine with high grade intercepts such as hole 09COM048 returning 20.0 g/t gold and 166.3 g/t silver over 5.85 metres at about 50m below surface (true width is estimated to be 50% of core length).

Highlighted gold-silver grade intercepts from the recent drilling program are as follows;

The three deeper holes 57, 59 and 60 were successful in confirming the continuity of target structures as deep as 700 metres below surface. These intersected structures containing mineralization anomalous in precious metal, base metal, and indicator element geochemistry. Near surface at El Compas the alteration envelopes adjacent to mineralized veins are typically narrow; consequently, the intersection of several broad intervals of propylitic alteration in the drill core suggests the existence of a significant hydrothermal system at deeper levels and is consistent with the Company's deposit model for El Compas. The El Compas deposit is believed to be an epithermal vein, gold and silver system where most of the past efforts have focused on the upper, near surface gold mineralization. For technical description of the deep holes 57, 59 and 60 please see Technical Discussion on the Company web site.

"The latest deep drill holes have confirmed mineralization potential below the gold-rich veins. We believe that there is excellent potential to discover a large Zacatecas-type, silver vein system at El Compas. We are planning an aggressive stage of exploration to include both shallow and deep drilling with the objective to increase the resource base and test other identified targets," stated Darren Bahrey, President.

Highlights (1st phase deep drilling)

-- In hole 10COM059, a mineralized zone over a core length of 14 metres was
anomalous in silver, gold, copper, lead and zinc indicating
mineralization continues at depth (from 685.3-699.0m).
-- In hole 10COM060, a structure unrelated to the target zone returned 54.9
g/t silver and 1.9 % copper over 0.25 metres. This type of
mineralization including native copper and silver is a new discovery and
represents a new style of mineralization different from anything yet
observed on the property posing a very interesting new target (see
photos on Company website).

The Company continues to pursue the Fresnillo-style silver mineralization model at El Compas. Clay studies and geophysics indicate that mineralization exists at depth as confirmed with this first phase of deeper drilling. Inspection of the drill core shows that the alteration of the surrounding host rock is increasing with depth. Upcoming drilling efforts will continue to test silver targets located beneath the near-surface gold targets.

Nineteen of the twenty two holes in the recent drill program returned significant vein intercepts shown in table below:

Quality Control

Oro Silver maintains a strict quality control program. All sample results generated by Oro Silver were submitted directly to Inspectorate Assay Laboratory, for preparation in Durango, Mexico, and analysis in Reno, Nevada. All samples submitted for analysis were of half-sawn core. Analysis was conducted on 2 assay ton samples for gold and silver, with standards and blanks inserted every 30 samples. Analysis of gold was by fire assay, with a gravimetric finish on samples exceeding 3 g/t gold. Analysis of silver was by 4-acid digestion with an ICP finish, and with a gravimetric finish on samples exceeding 100 g/t silver. Oro Silver's project development programs are supervised by Mr. Thomas Bagan, P. Eng., COO and Vice-President Operations. Mr. Bagan is the qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 and has reviewed the content of this press release.

About Oro Silver

Oro Silver's mandate is to develop properties toward silver production through a strategic business arrangement and development plan focused on advanced-stage projects with known silver resources that exhibit potential for expansion. The El Compas mine continues to be the cornerstone for Oro Silver's growth strategy in the Zacatecas silver district. The Zacatecas Fresnillo silver trend (known to have produced several billion ounces of silver) hosts the world's largest silver mine, the Fresnillo Mine, located 45 km to the northwest.
