Two Chinese Intelligence Agents were accused of an attempt to prevent justice by trying to bribe an American government worker. They wanted him to steal some information regarding an ongoing legal prosecution of a china-based Telecommunication firm. The American government worker to whom they had offered the bribe was acting as a spy for the FBI. The two Chinese intelligence personnel attempted to make him steal confidential files that pertain to an ongoing criminal investigation case about a global Telecommunication company that is based in China.

The Bribe Paid in Bitcoin
An amount worth $61,000 in Bitcoin was offered to the government worker to help do the job. According to a legal proceeding document, the company under investigation and prosecution was identified as ‘company-1’. But in a wall street periodical publication, the company in question was identified to be Huawei.
Elliptic, a blockchain intelligence company revealed that the two Chinese officials used a crypto-mixing platform (known as the Wasabi wallet) for paying the bribe. They did this in an attempt to make the transfer of the funds untraceable to investigators. The Chinese intelligence Agents – Gouchun He and Zheng Wan were placed under further investigation. Gouchen He has more allegations against him which involves money laundering and bribery. If found guilty, he could be jailed for up to 60 years.
