UK Prime Minister David Cameron has argued that Germany ‘cannot act alone’ to resolve the eurozone crisis.

Speaking ahead of talks with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr Cameron said that “speed is of the essence” and that “every day that the European economies are stagnant are days when opportunities are lost, wealth is lost, jobs can be lost so we need to get our economies moving”.

The meeting comes soon after the European Commission unveiled plans for a ‘bank union’ within the Eurozone and talks between the Prime Minister and US President Barack Obama, jointly calling for an “immediate plan” to stabilise the eurozone.
