UK public sector net borrowing unexpectedly records deficit in June
In the UK, the public sector net borrowing has unexpectedly reported a deficit of £6.50 billion in June, as compared to a revised deficit of £3.80 billion in the previous month. Market anticipation was for public sector net borrowing to report a deficit of £3.30 billion.
Euro-zone current account surplus rose in May
In the Euro-zone, the seasonally adjusted current account surplus expanded to €29.70 billion in May, following a revised current account surplus of €22.40 billion in the previous month.
US consumer sentiment index advanced in July
In the US, the flash consumer sentiment index rose to a level of 98.40 in July, compared to market expectations of a rise to a reading of 98.80. The consumer sentiment index had recorded a level of 98.20 in the prior month.
Canadian retail sales unexpectedly slid in May
In Canada, retail sales unexpectedly eased 0.10% on a MoM basis in May, lower than market expectations for a rise of 0.30%. Retail sales had recorded a revised rise of 0.20% in the previous month.
